Canada considers BPA toxic
The Canadian government has issued a final order classifying bisphenol A (BPA) as a toxic substance to be added to Schedule 1 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA). With this, Canada leads the world in protecting the public health of its citizens and the environment.
The Canadian Government has already prohibited the use of polycarbonate baby bottles that contain BPA. Further proposals covering food contact materials, cosmetics, industrial effluents and recycling were put forward in the assessment.
